Todd Reed’s ‘Recent Work’ Exhibit Now at South Suburban College’s Thiel Gallery

The Art & Design Department of South Suburban College (SSC) is pleased to present an exhibition entitled “Recent Work” by artist Todd Reed, on display in the Dorothea Thiel Gallery from October 15 to November 15, 2023, with an artist Reception on November 15 at 11:00 a.m. Reed is a new full-time faculty member in the Art and Design Department at SSC.

Reed is an artist and educator living and working in the suburbs of Chicago. Reed studied painting at Eastern Illinois University and earned his Master of Fine Arts from Illinois State University in 2008. Reed has been included in numerous group exhibitions across the United States and has had several solo shows.

The artist noted, “The language of abstraction that I create is intended to come off as a reflection on the man-made world. Though my work is not solidly representational, I use a vocabulary of shapes that vaguely reference elements of designed spaces. The places and spaces I am most interested in have some things in common. Yet they can reference experiences as different as a stroll down a supermarket aisle or an exhilarating 75 MPH ride on a busy tollway.”

The Dorothea Thiel Gallery is on the fourth floor and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The galleries are closed on weekends and holidays. The galleries are supported in part by the SSC Foundation. SSC is located at 15800 South State Street, South Holland, Illinois.
