Thomas Kia hosts another successful employee appreciation weekend at Guaranteed Rate Field

This weekend, Thomas Kia of Highland invited their employees and families to get together, relax, and watch the White Sox take on the Houston Astros.

One of the greatest parts of working at Thomas Kia is the family-oriented approach that they bring to their work. Tom Seely, general manager of Thomas Kia, believes that it is the employees that make Thomas Kia so special.

“One of the most important aspects of Thomas Kia and our success, is our employees. The Thomas family has a history of giving back to the community and giving back to our employees,” said Seely.

Thomas Kia and the White Sox were able to give back to the Thomas Kia family in a grand way. With reserved seating in the CIBC Fan Deck, catered food, and beer, there were smiles all around.

“Our culture is we’re family,” said Seely. “We are a melting pot of every ethnic group you can think of, and we all get along. We’re just one big family. So, today is a day where everyone can bring their family and have a good, relaxing day.”

Sales Manager Tom Ballestero is happy to have an opportunity to get together with his co-workers and their families and enjoy a great game.

“My favorite part is getting together with the people you work with and their family and sharing a great time together,” said Ballestero. “It definitely adds to our team chemistry.”

Sonya Keller and Katrine Laurinaitis, both employees at Thomas Kia, were very excited to be at the game. They both enjoy the opportunity to spend time with their co-workers and friends outside of the office.

“I love the wholesome feel. We are very close-knit and to get out like this outside of the office is just amazing,” said Laurinaitis.

“Getting to spend time with those that you enjoy spending time with at work, but in a different atmosphere, is my favorite part of these outings,” said Keller. “It helps when your friends with your co-workers. It makes it easier to work alongside them.”

Nick Spiru, a car salesman at Thomas Kia, was enjoying his very first company outing. Spiru started at Thomas Kia last July, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, wasn’t able to experience any prior outings. Despite the wait, he enjoyed every minute of his time at Guaranteed Rate Field.

“This is my first company outing with Thomas Kia. I’m having blast. It could not be better,” said Spiru. “These outings are really important for us to get out outside of work. We are all friends at this point. It’s one thing to work together, but if you can hang out together outside of work and be friends, you can’t fake that.”

The Thomas Kia family had a great time together at the CIBC Fan Deck, and they even got to see some fireworks after the White Sox hit a pair of homeruns on the day. The White Sox ultimately beat the Astros 4-0, and only allowed one hit on the day. It’s great to get together with friends and family at a ball game, but it’s even better when your team wins.
