Thomas A. Edison Jr. Sr. High School is proud to announce the graduation of the Class of 2024. The commencement ceremony will take place on June 9 at 2:00 PM, held in the Edison gymnasium. This momentous occasion marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and academic achievement for our students.
We are immensely proud of our graduating students. Their journey has been one of growth and achievement. We are confident that they will continue to excel and make significant contributions to society.
This year's graduating class has demonstrated resilience and adaptability, particularly in the face of challenges. Their achievements in academics, athletics, arts, and community service have set a high standard for future classes.
This year's graduating class was able to amass a total of 1.4 million dollars in scholarship money that was earned by 31 different students to assist them in furthering their education and dreams. Colleges and Organizations that awarded scholarships include Valparaiso University, Purdue University, the Lily Foundation, 21st Century Scholars, IUOE Local 150, Urban League, Horizon Bank, College Board, Kiwanis, Chavez Family Wrestling Scholarship and Dollars for Scholars which includes the contributions from Shirley E. Baird, Emily Gregoratos, John & Jean Cullen, Lake Area United Way, Sharp School Services, Lake Shore Heating & Cooling, Charlie & Julie Costa, Larry & Deborah Biggs, , Nancy Jarmula, Jeanine Smetana, Sun Engineering, Stardust 1951 LLC, Joel Remaley, the John Peck & the Dr. Kayes Memorial Funds as well as Employee Contributions.
This year's graduating class will also be graduating 15% of the class with either an academic or a technical honors diploma which is a fantastic accomplishment. We are also excited to announce that one student will be entering the United States Navy after graduation as well. We have graduates that will be going directly into the workforce or attending colleges and universities such as Valparaiso University, Ivy Tech, Indiana University Northwest, Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana University Kokomo, Purdue Northwest, Calumet College St. Joseph, Purdue University Lafayette, and Indiana University Indianapolis.
We are so very proud of the accomplishments, perseverance, and hard work that our 2024 graduates have demonstrated over the years here at Edison.
