The Taste of Crown Point returns to Bulldog Park

The Taste of Crown Point returns to Bulldog Park

Residents and visitors were invited to enjoy the Taste of Crown Point on Friday night, as the summer tradition returned to Bulldog Park. Local restaurants and community organizations set up shop and offered some of the most popular items on their menus while live music emanated from the park amphitheater.

The variety on offer was wide – from pizzerias such as Battista’s and Carriage Court to local diners and pubs such as Square Roots and Jax’s Crown Town Grill, as well as an array of sweet treats and snacks from businesses like Crown Creamery.

“This is a great event that really showcases our local restaurants,” said Diana Bosse, entertainment superintendent for the Crown Point PACE Department. “It brings the crowd out, and the weather today is perfect. We’ve got some great music lined up, so it’s going to be an awesome night out.”

The night’s live entertainment included performances by LeAnn Stutler, Mr. Funnyman, and Echoes of Pompeii. Tomorrow, the Lemmon Brothers Band, the All My Brothers Band, and Nate Venturelli will take the stage. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and set up in front of the park amphitheater.

“We’re just happy to be out here having a great event,” Bosse said. “Bulldog Park lets us have days like this without shutting down the Square and keeping people from getting to our businesses. Some of our restaurants from uptown are here, and the Square stays busy – so it’s a benefit to both.”

Some attendees are regulars to Crown Point’s event circuit, such as city resident Mary Wright.

“It’s amazing to be a part of this community and be able to come to these things that are so close to home,” she said. “We don’t have to worry about traveling to enjoy things like this. It’s just amazing; Crown Point’s a great town.”

Wright’s been excited to see the city continue to up the ante on their events – adding new vendors and more performers – while keeping things easily accessible at Bulldog Park.

“The Square kind of limited what they could do,” she said. “It’s like there’s bigger music now. It’s an amazing spot – the park is great for kids and families or to come to on date night. It’s great!”

The Taste of Crown Point continues on Saturday at Bulldog Park. The park opens at 12 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m., with the Lemmon Brothers Band starting its performance at 2 p.m. Attendance is free, and almost 30 vendors are on-site with different food and drinks.
