Tuesday, December 5th
Girls Basketball East Chicago Central vs. Munster
Munster High School’s Varsity Girls Basketball hosted East Chicago High School on Tuesday, December 5.
- The Mustangs put on quite the show, winning 73-45.
- Junior Guard Nina Garner led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, and three blocks. Helena Spencer also chipped 18 points, 6 rebounds, and six steals
Friday, December 8th
Girls Basketball Valparaiso vs. Crown Point
Crown Point High School’s Bulldogs Girls Basketball team hosted the Valparaiso High School Vikings.
- The Valparaiso Vikings were victorious in a 45-29 win.
- Lillian Barnes had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Becca Gerdt also added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Boys Basketball East Chicago Central vs. Munster
East Chicago’s Cardinals Boys Basketball team secured the win against the Munster Mustangs with a final score of 60-52.
- The Cardinals managed to go on a 21-11 run in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.
Saturday, December 9th
Boys Basketball River Forest vs. Hobart
Hobart High School Boys Basketball hosted River Forest High School on Saturday, December 9.
- The Brickies were able to win with the help of Senior Guard Anthony Hnilo who scored 28 points on a 60% shooting night.
Boys Basketball Merrillville vs. Andrean
Merrillville High School Boys Basketball hosted Andrean High School on Saturday with a result of 62-58 in favor of the Merrillville Pirates.
- The Pirates move on to a record of 2-1 on the year.
Region Sports Update
On Saturday, December 9, competitive cheerleader Tate Wilcox signed pen-to-paper to attend Morehead State University to continue her education and cheerleading career.
Hanover Central High School Senior Collin Foy went 5/5 in his heavyweight matches at the Carl Traicoff Memorial Invitational on Saturday, December 9 at Calumet New Tech High School.
The Mustangs are looking for a new head coach as Munster Head Football Coach Jason Grunewald stepped down after a 3-7 season which could create some buzz for the school and lead to some misdirection in the conference.

The 8-2 Valparaiso Vikings Girls Basketball team looks to extend its win-streak to six as it takes on the 7-3 Chesterton High School Trojans on Friday, December 15.
The 10-1 Lake Central High School Indians Girls Basketball team hosts the 8-5 Crown Point Bulldogs on Friday. Looking to stay undefeated in Conference play, the Indians look to keep their nine game win-streak alive.
Saturday, December 16
La Porte High School will host Girls Gymnastics teams for the Pairs Invitational on Saturday, December 16.
