The Lakes of Valpo Host Fall Wine Tasting for Community

The Lakes of Valparaiso and Wise Guys Liquors joined forces to offer the public a fall flavored wine tasting event. As the snow blanketed the ground outside, the event acted as the perfect opportunity to ‘wine’ down at the beautiful Lakes of Valparaiso Clubhouse.

Lily Smith, the Lake's Residential Concierge, enjoys getting residents involved with each other to grow a community lifestyle.

“We love to have diverse events all while helping others in the community. We have events for children like Christmas crafts, and fun things for adults like wine tasting,” Smith said. “Plus, it’s convenient for residents not to worry about going out in the snow; they can just walk down to the clubhouse and enjoy themselves.”

For Brett Gargano, Vice President of Finance and Store Operations of Wise Guys Liquors, tonight was about engaging with the community, as well as promoting their new Chesterton location.

“We are excited to have just opened a store in Chesterton and we want everyone to know that we are just down the street,” Gargano said.

Wise Guys Liquors is native to Northwest Indiana as their third store recently opened in Chesterton near The Lakes of Valparaiso. Wise Guys hopes to open a store in Valparaiso sometime within the next year.

Samuel Liubakka, Store Manager of the Chesterton Wise Guys Liquors, relayed that this event was a fun way to engage with the community. The store’s grand opening was October 13th and Liubakka takes pride in offering the very best.

“It’s nice that The Lakes of Valparaiso and Wise Guys can come together to let the community know that we are here to support them,” Liubakka said. “We support local, so our local wine section is big. We do a lot of events like this because we support our community.”

Sheri Evans, Lakes of Valparaiso resident, was excited to try new wines and relax after a long day. She was thrilled to have the convenience of it right in her backyard.

“It was so nice to be able to just walk over,” Evans said.

According to Evans, there are always so many activities for her to enjoy, making the Lakes of Valparaiso a fun place to live. Evans also said the business center is a life-saver.

"I’m a teacher and if I don’t want to take work home I can come here and get things done,” Evans said. “The events are a bonus. I love the connection between the Lakes of Valparaiso and the community.”

The event was a success that connected delicious appetizers and delectable local wine alongside meaningful conversation.
