The Washington Township Senators hosted the Kouts Mustangs in a conference high school boys’ basketball game Friday night. The Senators had not lost a home yet this season and the Mustangs were undefeated for away games.

While the Senators, coached by Scott Bowesock, were all business from the start, it was the Mustang’s Parker Kneifel who sank the first basket in the form of a three pointer. The first quarter was close, but by the end of it the Mustangs, coached by Kevan Duzan, started to lead. The first quarter ended with the Senators 16 – Mustangs 27. The Mustangs continued to lead in the second quarter, ending the half with 44 points to the Senators 29.

Despite their determination and best effort, the Senators fell to the Mustangs with a final score of 92-53. With this win, the Mustangs proudly retained their conference traveling trophy!

Top scorers for the Senators were Steven Hernandez (21 points), James Hernandez (16 points) and Tyler Hachey (9 points). The Mustangs top scorers were Cole Wireman (27 points), Hunter Kneifel (22 points), Cale Wireman (16 points) and Parker Kneifel (14 points). Washington Township will face Covenant Christian next, in an away game January 26. Kouts will next host Rensselaer Central in a non-conference home game January 16.
