South Suburban College (SSC) invites the community to an inspiring celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day: “The Dream Continues”. This event will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Kindig Performing Arts Center, located at 15800 S. State St., South Holland, Illinois.
This year’s theme, “The Dream Continues” aims to challenge our college and community to make Dr. King’s vision relevant in addressing today’s racial and socioeconomic climate. Together, we will explore how his enduring principles of equity, justice, and unity can guide us in shaping a brighter future.
The celebration will feature:
- An array of guest speakers, featuring Reverend Dr. Ozzie E. Smith, Jr. and other local community leaders, sharing insights and reflections.
- A keynote address by Pastor Julian DeShazier and SSC Voices that brings Dr. King’s dream into focus for the challenges of our modern era.
- Performances by talented students from Thornton Township High School District 205, honoring Dr. King’s legacy through art and expression.
- Light refreshments to foster fellowship and connection.
Through engaging speeches, powerful performances, and meaningful dialogue, this event offers a unique opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy while reimagining the dream for today’s generation.
Plan to join us for this dynamic and reflective celebration. Together, let’s redefine the dream and build a better tomorrow.
