The difference behind Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center

Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center is not your typical skilled nursing home. Since 2012 when the center opened its doors, hundreds of new residents have enjoyed the center’s 4,000 square foot space of available private rooms, classes, activities, field-trips, and so much more. Whether in need of memory care or independent living, Addison Pointe offers their facility to just about anyone.

Mark Stagge, Corporate Director of Marketing for TLC Management, discussed what makes Addison Pointe stand out, and how that distinction benefits the residents health and overall life.

“What makes us different is that we are a family-based organization,” Stagge said. “We don’t focus as much on the bottom line, and we do the best we can with patient experience.”

TLC Management owns fifteen different skilled nursing homes throughout Indiana and Florida, including Addison Pointe. They open facilities with the goal in mind of making it a part of the neighborhood.

“In the past there’s always been a stigma of skilled nursing facilities as a place that no one wants to go to because it’s scary,” Stagge said. “But we try to open it up to the neighborhood and community to make it seem more inviting and more welcoming.”

Addison Pointe tries to engage in the community as much as possible, according to Stagge. They do programs with the schools in surrounding areas to invite the community in, while also being sure to get the residents out and about three to four times a week so they can explore the community too.

“We try to open it up to the neighborhood and community to make it seem more inviting and welcoming,” he said. “And our facility specifically is bright and cheerful. There’s just a sense of welcomeness when you come in.”

But the biggest thing that Addison Pointe does is create a sense of community between the residents. With large common areas for residents to congregate and engage with each other, plus walking trails and dining together, the residents begin to feel like a family.

“I think it gives them a sense of hope and livens their spirits,” Stagge said. “A lot of the people we take care of bond with one another and look after one another like a big brother, little brother type situation.”

Surrounded by shopping, healthcare facilities, houses of worship, and neighborhoods of people, Addison Pointe makes another great addition to the community.
