The City of Whiting Holds the 97th Annual 4th of July Parade

Whiting brought the Fourth in with style on Monday. 119th Street was packed with Region residents celebrating America’s 240th birthday and Whiting's 97th parade year.

The parade gave local residents, organizations, schools, and businesses a chance to give tribute to local veterans and soldiers.

Jamie Martello of the Whiting Lions Club marched in her first parade. She said she loved to see the community unite at the event.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Martello said. “This is really cool how everyone gets together and has fun.”

The 2015-16 Whiting High football team celebrated on top of a double-decker fire truck. Linebacker Jacob Pick was awed by the moment.

“It felt great because I remembered all of the stuff that we went through,” Pick said. “All of the hard work we put in at practice…and we appreciate all of the support from the town.”

Another parade in the Little City by the Lake is in the books. Whiting showed The Region how to have some fun
