The Calumet Roundtable Gives Back to Veterans

Calumet-Round-TableDuring the months of March and April, The Calumet Roundtable partnered with the Veterans Life Changing Services, Inc., located in Northwest Indiana in hopes of helping veterans and their families. Veterans Life Changing Services, Inc. helps to create a Veteran community in Northwest Indiana and Illinois. VLCS provides stabilized housing support services that increase education and job skill levels of Veterans a promote greater self-determination.

“It is an honor to give back to the communities and veterans,” said student, David Bork. “It’s humbling to know we have the opportunity to help the wonderful men and woman who have served our country.”

Students at Purdue University Northwest, under the direction of Professor Mary Beth O’Connor, engaged both the Hammond and Westville campuses to help collect donations. Students held two charity events at the Purdue University Northwest Calumet campus. One-hundred percent of the donations went to the Veterans Life Changing Services, Inc. located in Northwest Indiana. Visit veteranslifechangingservices.com for your organization to get involved.

“I have many family friends who have served and appreciate what programs like VLCS offers to the community,” said student, Arriana Guillen.

The Calumet Roundtable is an AVA Award winning, student-produced and faculty supervised television program that airs on the ION Television Network and is a platform for scholarly discussions.
