Teacher Erin Barton goes back to new beginnings

On her thirteenth year of teaching fifth grade art teacher Mrs. Erin Barton has returned back to the place in which she grew up.

“My first year teaching was in central Indiana at a tiny little school in the country. I returned to Northwest Indiana to start a new job with the Duneland School Corporation in Chesterton, Indiana,” Barton said.

Barton had worked at the school in the Duneland School Corporation for ten years before taking a leave of absence to raise her children. Having experience teaching grades kindergarten through eighth grade as well as working in a variety of positions in Special Education, there was no issue transitioning to Clark.

“I really enjoy working at Clark. It has been a wonderful new experience working for the school system that I graduated from so long ago,” Barton said.

This year Barton is teaching one period where students will experience Art through a variety of materials. Through this class Barton hope that the kids will “feel empowered to learn new things, be creative and use their imaginations for a lifetime."
