On August 23, Four Winds Field in South Bend became the arena for an exciting convergence of sports and technology as the South Bend Cubs faced off against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. In addition to throwing the game’s first pitch, fiber-optic internet service provider Surf Internet welcomed the first 1,000 fans to the ballpark with a commemorative Surf/South Bend Cubs pint glass, emblematic of the night's collaboration.

Operating from their headquarters in Elkhart and an additional office in La Porte, Surf Internet boasts a local team deeply ingrained in various community events. Mike Losier, the managing director of residential sales at Surf Internet, represented the company at their booth stationed just beyond the Gate A entrance. Throughout the evening, Losier and other Surf representatives talked with attendees, answered questions, and invited people to sign up to win a South Bend Cubs jersey. Moreover, anyone visiting the Surf booth to subscribe for services was rewarded with a complimentary month of service, exemplifying Surf's commitment to transforming the region's technological landscape.

In line with their dedication to fan engagement, the South Bend Cubs organize approximately 20 giveaway nights each season, primarily on Wednesdays and Sundays. Hart elaborated on the significance of the pint glass giveaway, noting that it serves not only as a mutual aid but also as a keepsake to be cherished for years to come.
