All programs take place at LCA, located at 101 W. 2nd St. in Michigan City, IN. LCA members receive a 10 percent discount on all classes and camps, and scholarships are available for children under age 18.

The summer class session begins on Monday, June 11th. Youth options include Painting for Young Artists and Stop Motion Animation. Adult options include Abstract Painting, Drawing Bootcamp, Watercolor Plus and Sandcastle Writers, as well as one-day workshops in jewelry making and the art of fused glass.

LCA’s popular summer camps for children ages 8 to 13 will also return, with three week-long courses offered in July and August. Camps run daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In Lights, Camera, Action, beginning July 15th, campers will develop video and stop motion animation skills by collaborating in small groups to create their own narratives, characters and sets using the iPad provided for their use. In Zines, Comics, and Stickers, Oh My!, beginning July 22nd, campers will meet local comic artists and zinesters to learn more about building original stories, characters and formats, as they create zines, comics, stickers, silkscreen prints and T-shirts. The camp season ends with Trashion Week, beginning August 5th. Campers will become upcycle fashion designers and models as they use recycled and reclaimed materials to design and create their own innovative, wearable works of art.
