The pandemic spurred the idea to make an internal morning show to stay more connected with the residents and keep them updated on what is going on in the community.
StoryPoint Chesterton originally thought they would program classic movies to run on the community’s televisions when the pandemic first hit. Dale Slosser, the Settings Lead, and Shelly McCarthy, the Life Enrichment Director, decided to take it to the next level by creating a daily news program to connect with residents more closely and provide exciting updates about the community.
They have partnered with local businesses to interview them for the show, such as Valpo Velvet Shoppe and Chesterton Feed and Garden Center. They have also used their show to introduce new employees, highlight resident stories, interview local experts, offer how-to segments, and much more. StoryPoint has also transformed a room in the building into what they are calling Studio 18 that they use for on-site interviews with staff and residents. This news concept is planned to be implemented in all of the other StoryPoint properties in the coming months.
