St. Paul Brings Spirit March 8th

We’ve got spirit, yes we do! It is time to start preparing for the 17th Annual Saint Paul Spirit Run 5K Race and Non-Competitive Walk. Each year over 400 runners and walkers brave the unknown elements to participate in the St. Paul Catholic School Spirit Run. This year we are inviting you and your family to join us. Registration, Volunteers and Sponsorship opportunities can be found on the school’s web site. Go to stpaulvalpo.org for more information.

For seventeen years, Saint Paul Catholic School has opened its doors and hosted this first class event. Participants come from all over Northwest Indiana and the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago for this Calumet Striders Gold Cup Race. This year the Spirit Run is the first Gold Cup race of the racing season for the Calumet Strider racing series. However, it is seeing the staff, students and their parents participating that have truly made this event special.

We are looking for sponsors, participants, spectators and volunteers to help in many ways, and to show off your school spirit. Watch the white envelope for more information to be headed your way in the next couple of weeks.

So, stick to those "Fitness Resolutions", and sign up your whole family, and show off your school spirit. There will be many volunteer opportunities for people who need hours. Here is a sample of some the volunteer opportunities that are available: race application distribution, course set up, race registration, start/finish line workers, race course monitors, split callers, water station, post race refreshments (cookie bakers), event photographer and clean up workers.

Parents and Scout Leaders please encourage your children to participate and lead by example. You’ll be glad you did. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The age groups start at 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19 and on up to 65-69 and 70 and older.

On line registration is available this year and you can save time and money by registering on line before March 1st. Students can save as much as $10 by registering early. So, don’t wait for race day to sign up.

This is a busy time of year for many of us. So, for those of you with busy schedules, the race will start promptly at 9am and you can be off to your other activities for the day by 10:00-10:15.
