St. Mary’s in Crown Point holds end of the school year parade

On May 29th, a beautiful Friday afternoon, students and staff at St. Mary Catholic Community School said goodbye to one another.  The school held a social distancing, “End of the School Year Parade.”

People wave to children in cars at parade.

“Typically, the last days of school are filled with field days, fun activities, hugs, and goodbyes.  This year, those things weren’t possible, so we did the next best thing.  We had a parade to properly create a feeling of closure to the school year,” said Principal Tom Ruiz.

The vast majority of the school’s 500+ students showed up, many in brightly decorated cars and holding signs.  There were many smiles and well-wishes for a great summer.
