School board, administrators open new entrance at middle school

Board members and administrators of the Merrillville Community School Corporation held a ribbon-cutting at Clifford Pierce Middle School today to ceremoniously open its newly constructed entrance.

The $1.6 million construction project increased the security of the main entrance by bringing the administrative offices to the front of the building and changing visitor traffic flow through the entrance.

Board members experienced the new entrance and checked out the new administrative offices and workspace.

“We thank the board for supporting this project and their continued focus on the needs of our students,” Superintendent Nicholas G. Brown, Ed.S. said.

“We can better monitor visitors and see what’s going on in front of the school,” said LaFonda Morris, principal. “We also have better access to the cafeteria where additional supervision may be necessary.”

In addition to the increased security, the new entrance allows visiting parents to have better access to administrators.
