Recently, on a beautiful crisp fall morning, the Environmental Club from St. Mary’s School in Crown Point recently enjoyed a fishing trip. Students, families, and staff members journeyed to southern Lake County.
The fishing pond is connected to the Kankakee River, providing it with a diverse population of fish, and most students were lucky enough to reel in several fish regardless of previous experience.
Bluegill, crappie, catfish, and bass were caught. "There’s really only one way that students fall in love with nature, and that’s spending time in the outdoors," said Mr. Steve Davis, one of the club sponsors.
When asked about the experience, St. Mary’s student Logan “Catfish” Hamnik exclaimed “It was AWESOME, I loved it!”
