During the course of the past five weeks the sixth-grade students at St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point have been studying some of the world’s most pronounced humanitarians, reading their biography or autobiography.
As part of this project, the students wrote an expository paper as well as presented a one-minute speech portraying life and times of the person. The students dressed as their humanitarian and gave their oral presentation, a “Living Biography Museum,” in Hammes Hall to the St. Mary’s community. Students from lower grades enjoyed being taught by the sixth-graders in an entertaining fashion.
