St. Catherine Hospital offers lung cancer screenings

St. Catherine Hospital offers a low-dose CT scan to screen for lung cancer. Adults with a past history of heavy smoking may benefit from a low-dose CT scan of the lungs for early detection of lung cancer. The hospitals of Community Healthcare System are currently offering this screening to individuals who meet the established high-risk criteria:

· Between 55 and 77 years of age

· Current or former smoker who has quit fewer than 15 years ago

· Have smoked 1 pack/day for 30 years or 2 packs/day for 15 years.

A physician order is necessary. Screenings are available in East Chicago, Hobart, Munster, Schererville, St. John, Portage and Valparaiso. Call 800-809-9828 to schedule an appointment. For information on other programs offered by Community Healthcare System, visit COMHS.org
