South Shore Orchestra Opens Their New Season with a Successful Fundraiser

2014-South-Shore-Orchestra-FundraiserThe wine was fine and the food fabulous at the ninth annual SSO Wine Tasting on September 14. Seventy-five guests enjoyed the afternoon sampling the culinary talents of Valley Kitchen and Bar with over forty different wines to taste from a variety of regions from California to Australia. This event raised funds for South Shore Orchestra’s programming and educational outreach. Funds were also generated from donated silent auction items and wines sales profits.

South Shore Orchestra will perform their first concert of the season SOUNDSCAPES on Friday, September 26 at 7 p.m. in the Ivy Tech Auditorium Theater. The program includes a chamber version of Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, Alberto Ginastera's, Impresiones de la Puna (Impressions of the Andes mountains) and special guest Erhu soloist,Ting Li, performing Moon Reflected on the 2nd Fountain and Galloping War Horses. A dance troupe from the famed Hangzhou Academy of Performing Arts will also perform as part of the Confucius Institute’s Great Lake Music Festival.
