South Shore Line announces DBE vendor open house set for February 15th, 2024

The City of Michigan City, in partnership with Flaherty & Collins, the developer constructing the South Shore Line Michigan City 11th Street train station and garage, will host a Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) Vendor Open House from 10 a.m. until noon on February 15th, 2024, at 1108 Franklin Street (the former Moose Lodge).

The project includes a six-story, open-air parking garage with integral train station, as well as a 12-story apartment tower with amenities connected to the garage.

Construction-related DBEs with the capacity to work on this project are invited to attend the open house to share their companies’ core competencies and services and to connect with prime contractors and project partners from the Michigan City Redevelopment Commission and Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD).

“This is a very exciting time for the South Shore Line with the progress of the Double Track project,” said Michael Noland, South Shore Line President and General Manager. “The Michigan City 11th Street station and garage is a monumental part of the project. Not only will this be a brand new station for South Shore Line passengers, but it will also provide retail and residential space to the Michigan City community.”

Those who wish to attend the open house should RSVP with Project Manager Zach Johnson at zjohnson@flco.com. Attendees are not required to stay for the entire event and may come and go anytime between 10 a.m. and noon. Parking will be available in the designated parking lot and on the street if the lot is full.

The South Shore Line is a commuter rail line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana.
