South Shore Art Classes Begin March 14th

South-Shore-Arts-Vincent-AvilaSouth Shore Arts will begin its SPRING term of classes the week of March 14 at its three locations in Munster, Crown Point and Hammond. This SPRING’s classes include a variety of pre-school, children’s and adult classes including drawing, painting, pottery, figure drawing, photography (35mm darkroom and digital), cartooning, fantasy drawing, songwriting, manga, Japanese art, and more.

South Shore Arts is also pleased to offer many workshops for children and adults at their Munster and Crown Point locations. Children’s workshops offered are Recycled Bird Feeder, Create Your Own “Ugly Doll”, Mom & Me Butterfly (Foot) Prints, Chalk-It-Up and Woven CD Dream-Catcher. Adult workshops offered are Watercolor Contour Flowers, Altered Photographs, Spring Collagraph Print, and more.

At the South Shore Arts Munster facility, classes are held in fully equipped art studios located on the lower level of the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. Classes offered are Principles of Figure Drawing, Pottery (for kids or adults), Drawing (beginning or intermediate), Watercolor, 35mm Black & White Photography with Darkroom (beginning or intermediate), Digital Camera Techniques, Intro to Cartooning, Drawing & Painting Portraits, and much more.

The South Shore Arts Crown Point branch, located at 123 N. Main Street, offers classes for children and adults such as Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Creative Fingers, Fantasy Drawing, Intro to Manga (Japanese comics), Colors of the Rainbow, a Senior Art Workshop, and various children’s and adult classes.

South Shore Arts Hammond site, Substation No. 9, 435 Fayette St., offers Mommy & Me (ages 2-3), Colors of the Rainbow (ages 3-4), Creative Fingers (ages 5-6), Beginning Drawing and Painting for Kids (ages 6-8 or 9-15), Intro to Manga, and a Senior Art Workshop. Thanks to a cooperative relationship with the City of Hammond, all Hammond residents taking classes at Substation No. 9 pay half price. Proof of residency is required upon registration.
