You have heard the name, you know what they are all about, but do you know the people who make Oak Partners, Inc. come to life? You should. And I’m going to let you meet one lovely lady who happens to be the first face you see upon walking into Oak Partners, Inc. in Crown Point.
Sue Shoemaker, Communications and Operations Coordinator for Oak Partners, Inc. has been with the company for five years. She came here on the referral of someone who already worked at Oak Partners.
A typical day for Shoemaker is interaction with clients, assisting different departments in completion of tasks, making and taking phone calls, and keeping the environment fun and stress-free. “It can get busy around here,” Shoemaker said. “I provide support to all of the teams here so I have to multitask and practice good time management.”
At Oak Partners the unspoken motto is: work hard and play hard.
“It’s fun here,” Shoemaker said. “It’s given me variety. No two days are the same. I love interacting with all of our clients. There are so many different personalities out there and they like to be involved here with us. We manage investments for them so it’s important that we give them proper communication and the treatment that they deserve.”
Shoemaker has a sweet and calm demeanor and it makes everyone around here feel comfortable. She has worked in industries in the past where she has dealt with people so she’s a seasoned people pro. “Most everything I’ve done has been dealing with people,” Shoemaker said. “I like it because I enjoy the interactions. It’s fun to talk to people and learn more about them. The clients we have share wonderful stories and I find them all interesting. I try to keep up with what’s happening with our clients so I can have a good connection with each of them.”
And Shoemaker loves the people who she works with. One of her tasks is to connect the right client with the right advisor at Oak Partners.
“Some clients don’t have a lot of interactions with their advisors and it’s my job to make sure I get them where they need to go,” Shoemaker explained.
Her co-workers rely on her heavily. The knowledge of this is very humbling to her.
“Some people think that all I do is answer phones all day. But it’s far from the truth. There is so much that each of us at does Oak Partners that isn’t seen by the public. Hearing that what I’m doing is appreciated means a lot,” Shoemaker said.
Outside of work, Shoemaker is all about her family.
“I love to spend time with my family and get crafty and shop with my two daughters,” Shoemaker said with a smile. “I have one daughter down at IU and the other will be going there shortly. I’d do anything for them. My girls and my husband are my life.”
