Sarah Mirabella decided to become a nurse due to the influence of her mother being a pediatric nurse and seeing how her mother was able to make a difference in the lives of others. Mirabella began her nursing career 12 years ago as a charge nurse at Porter Regional Hospital. Because she enjoyed traveling, she decided to become a travel nurse. It was exciting, but pulled her away from her family more than she liked. So, she decided to pursue nursing locally again.
Mirabella's passion for seniors led her to working in hospice, where she experienced case management. While in case management, Mirabella had a chance to work with many of the local nurse liaisons and she thought this could be a fulfilling career. When she saw that there was an opening at Addison Pointe back in May, she decided to take a leap of faith and enter into long-term care. So far, Sarah has been able to have an influence in people’s decision to come to Addison, and has built relationships with the patients and patient families at Addison as well.
"Every day I have a new challenge or opportunity that I come across. I enjoy being able to troubleshoot with the nursing staff at Addison who are very enjoyable to work with," Mirabella said. "I am also able to utilize my clinical skills, reviewing medical information pertaining to each patient and making sure we are able to meet the patient needs. I am also able to educate families and make sure that each patient that comes to Addison has a first class experience.”
Mirabella is married and has two children: 12-year-old son Owen and 11- year-old daughter Grace.
