Salk Elementary Boys Participate in Let Me Run

Salk-Elementary-Boys-Participate-in-Let-Me-Run-2018_01 Let Me Run is an after-school club for boys. It was created in an effort to support boys and help them grow to their full potential. It helps to inspire boys to be themselves, be active and belong. There is curriculum that trained volunteers/coaches follow that applies the power of running as well as encourages boys to develop their psychological, emotional and social health.

Boys meet twice a week for seven weeks to complete lessons and practice running. Lessons topics include respect, positive competition, and nutrition. Additionally, the boys learn about proper running form and correct stretching techniques. At the conclusion of the program, the boys and their coaches participate in a 5K race. This year the boys at Salk Elementary along with their coaches ran a 5K on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. The 5K race was called “Thank God for Pets Race”.
