La Porte running back Charles Salary was named the offensive MVP and Crown Point's Morgan Kral the defensive MVP when the Duneland Athletic Conference released the 2014 All-DAC Football Team on November 18.
Salary's Slicers are currently set to take on Fort Wayne Snider in the semi-state round of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) playoffs. Kral's Bulldogs dropped their postseason opener at Merrillville following an 8-1 regular season.
Lake Central went undefeated in conference, bringing home the conference trophy outright for the first time in school history. The Indians also led the league in all-conference selections as eight Indians (Brandon Scott, Antwan Davis, Logan Lambert, KJ Singleton, Chuck Sykes, Quinn Paprocki, Wally Dahlkamp and Austin Atkins) were named to the team.
Joining Kral on the All-DAC with the Bulldogs, who finished second in the league, are Artie Equihua, Troy Grady, Mitchell Kessler, Eric Fiacable and Billy Bernhardt.
Chesterton finished third behind all-conference selections Garrett Walker, Luke Finke, Jackson Heard, Jordan Dilosa and Avery Beeks. Fourth was Merrillville, who had Shawn Streck, DJ Wilkins, Jonathan Robinson and Terrance Grayson named to the team.
Salary was joined on the conference best squad by Slicer teammates Matt Otwinowski, Jacob Payne and Tyler Littlejohn. La Porte tied Valparaiso and Michigan City for fith in conference. The Vikings' all-DAC representatives were Collin Vinyard, Anthony Castanon, Drake Barton and Jon Steiner, while the Wolves were represented by Matt Schoof, Myles Morrow, Frank Janatik and Aryuan Cain-Veasey.
Portage finished eighth in conference with all-league picks Nathan Cherry, Alex Guerrero and Braden Majewski.
Chesterton's Nate Needham was named the all-league kicker while Jared Smolar of Valparaiso was selected as the best punter.
