RSN Previews Top Week Two Football Matchups

rsn-logoThe Region Sports Network has previewed three of the top Week Two prep football match-ups, none bigger than the "Battle of Broadway" - the yearly showdown between in-city rivals No. 1 Andrean and No. 2 Merrillville.

Denny Churilla picks Andrean to win, but says that while the 59ers are the region's king of the hill until they are knocked off, Merrillville is certainly capable of doing that Friday night at Demaree Stadium. See full RSN preview here.

The "Battle of Broadway" isn't the only intriguing Week Two match-up featuring a pair of top ten teams. No. 5 Morton visits No. 7 Lowell in a nonconference showdown of two teams that like the run the ball.

"Lowell’s offense will put up more than the 10 they did last week, but Morton’s attack will eventually prove to be too much for the Red Devil D," Nathan Laird says. See full RSN preview here.

One of the more impressive Week One victories came from Munster, who won at Lake Central by a field goal prior to Friday night's home opener at the "Marsh Lands" against Chesterton. The Mustangs will look to avenge a 35-14 defeat at the hands of the Trojans last year.

"There's no denying the Trojans showed resiliency and strength on the defensive side last week and it's hard to see them not finding their way into the end zone again this week," Steve Wartman says. "But the Mustangs seem to have more working for them offensively right now with the duo of Ostoich/Pickett, giving them just enough to avenge last year's lopsided defeat." See full RSN preview here.
