With his positive personality and over 40 years of experience, Rob Ramsey, Assistant Service Manager at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo, works tirelessly to provide the dealership’s customers with top-quality service. Ramsey's many responsibilities at the dealership vary throughout the day. In the morning, Ramsey can typically be found helping out at the dealership's service advisor drive.
Throughout the rest of the day, he oversees the dealership’s sales and manages both payments and warranty claims. He additionally monitors the service advisors’ daily processes and procedures. Ramsey is also involved in tech training and is in charge of training new service advisors as well as future service managers and assistant service managers.
Ramsey is passionate about his work and enjoys staying busy overseeing the dealership’s operations.
"I love the business," Ramsey explained. "I do a little bit of everything here at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. One of my favorite aspects of the job is the sense of pride I feel when jobs are done correctly. It's gratifying to complete a job, know that we did it well, and ensure that the customer was taken care of. It makes you feel good about yourself. I also enjoy mentoring the younger guys and the newcomers. Watching them grow and blossom is another one of my other favorite aspects of the business.”
Ramsey began his career in the auto industry working at a Ford dealership in South Holland, Illinois, in the 1980s and was able to rise to the position of shop foreman after working there for only six months. Ramsey was then made the dealership's service manager after another six months. He went on to hold that position for 13 years until the dealership was closed.
After a couple weeks' hiatus, a multi-line Mercedes-Benz dealership offered Ramsey a service manager position. This dealership sold a variety of vehicles, including Jaguar, Volvo, Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, and Nissan. Ramsey accepted the position and went on to work there for another 13 years.
While working at Mercedes-Benz, Ramsey met Roger Galvan, his current boss at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. At the time, Galvan was one of Ramsey's service advisors at the dealership. Galvan, who had himself been hired as a service manager at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo, invited Ramsey to take up the assistant service manager position at the dealership. Ramsey accepted the offer without hesitation and has worked there to this day.
Ramsey has greatly enjoyed being a member of the Currie Motors team since the day he started at the dealership.
"Currie Motors Ford of Valpo has a great atmosphere," Ramsey stated. "It didn’t take long for me to be accepted here when I first started. Everybody here is great. We get along with one another and we have each other’s backs. We’re also all on the same page when it comes to putting our customers and the community’s well-being first. This dealership would be nothing without the Valparaiso community. Our customers here in Valpo appreciate the fact that we go out of our way to help them, and that reflects in our surveys and Google reviews. Knowing that our customers can walk out of our dealership happy makes me smile.”
Ramsey and the rest of the Currie Motors Ford of Valpo team do their utmost to make sure that their customers receive the best service possible. The dealership offers free vehicle pickup and delivery services for Valpo-based residents and businesses. They have recently begun offering complimentary road service to Valpo residents as well. Currie Motors Ford of Valpo technicians will now come out to the customers’ property to work on the vehicle there, making for a convenient and expedient repair process.
Ramsey appreciates and respects Currie Motors Ford of Valpo’s commitment to prioritizing customer satisfaction over profit.
"Our staff's caring and positive attitude helps set Currie Motors Ford of Valpo apart," Ramsey noted. "Our customers are always people to us. We remember them, and we greet them by their first names whenever they come back. Building meaningful relationships with customers is crucial. That’s what business is all about. I constantly remind the guys I train of that. If you don't build those relationships, your business is going to flounder."
When he is looking to unwind, Ramsey enjoys playing pool and heading down to the Ozark Mountains to do some fishing. Ramsey and his family are Chicago Cubs season ticket holders and love spending the summer attending games at Wrigley Field.
