Residences at Deer Creek Holds Senior Fun Day Activities

Senior citizen community members living in Schererville attended Residences at Deer Creek's Senior Fun Day, and they all did just that: had fun!

The day was hosted through the Schererville Parks and Recreation “Primetimers” program, which are monthly events and activities for those over the age of 60. Each month has a different theme and activity, always something fun that inspires the residents of Schererville to come out and enjoy.

On Wednesday, the Lunch Date themed day was sponsored by the staff at Residences, who were then in charge of the menu. The rest of the day’s games and entertainment were provided by the Programming staff of Schererville Parks and Rec.

“This month was the “Senior Fun Day,” and we had a cook out and games,” Marketing Coordinator Jane Powers said.

The always gourmet, prepared and presented, food was provided by Residences at Deer Creek’s Executive Chef Justin Klobucar, who grilled deluxe hamburgers and hot-dogs, along with all of the delicious and necessary sides.

“It was a really fun day! The participants had a great time,” Powers added.

For dessert, there was a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar, equipped with sprinkles, candy, chocolate toppings and syrups!

"The participation and sponsorship of the monthly events have been going for the last four years," Melissa Huffman, Director of Sales and Marketing at Residences, said. “It’s a fantastic event where the seniors engage in games, food, and other fun activities!”

The event is held inside the Schererville Community Center. Families of residents are welcome to join in on the fun each month, in addition to the staff of each facility.

The September event will be Wednesday, the 27th at 11:30 a.m. and the theme is Fall Social and Crafts!
