Request for proposal released for downtown site

Hammond, IN – January 8, 2020 –Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the City’s Department of Planning and Development have released a new and vibrant RFP for an important downtown Hammond site.  The City of Hammond is requesting proposals for a brand new multi-use residential building which would house 200+ units, with retail and commercial on the ground level, complimenting a new active and welcoming plaza at the corner of Hohman Avenue and a designed Rimbach Street. 

“This first step is crucial in setting the tone for Downtown Hammond’s future,” says Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr.  “The City is moving forward with its new Master Plan from Jeff Speck and Associates and the interest we’re receiving from developers already it outstanding.  With the new Downtown Hammond train station cementing this area of our city, the heart of our community is already beating again.” 

Letters of Intent to respond are due to Africa Tarver, Executive Director of Planning and Development at atarver@gohammond.com by January 15, 2020, with the full Proposals due February 28, 2020 at noon.  All information about this RFP, Downtown Hammond, and its new Master Plan is located at www.gohammond.com/downtown.
