We are saddened to hear of the passing of Richard Komyatte, former board member and longtime friend of Legacy Foundation. In 2012, Legacy nominated him for Philanthropist of the Year for AFP, Northwest Indiana Chapter.
Befitting his Catholic faith, Rich quoted famed Catholic theologian Henri Nouwen in his acceptance speech, “Fundraising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that others have an opportunity to participate with us in that vision we hold so dear to our hearts…We don’t go to our donors and say the economic times are tough; we’re hurting; we need your help. Instead, we should be declaring that we have a vision that is amazing and exciting and that we’re inviting you and the donor to participate in that mission with us.”
Thank you to Richard for his many years of service to the region. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
