Rejuvenate Your Passion for Working with Children

indiana-youth-institute-logoThose who work with children often nurture young people yet struggle to find time to nourish their own spirits, resulting in burnout.

To help youth workers reconnect with their passion for children, the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is hosting a forum that will explore ways for youth workers to refresh their mind, body and spirit with self-care so they sustain a long-term professional commitment.

The forum will feature Tom Plake, chief exploration officer for The Journey. The Journey is home to a variety of programs that seek to support the renewal and professional growth of youth workers. The program grounds people in who they are, connects professionals to each other and inspires peoples’ beliefs about what youth workers can accomplish on behalf of young people. Plake will explore how managing a definition of success is key to self-care when working with children.

The forum will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT on June 2 at the Geminus Building, 8400 Louisiana St., Merrillville, 46410.

As part of IYI’s Youth Worker Café program, the forum is free and lunch will be served, but reservations are required by June 1. Attendees can RSVP at www.iyi.org/YWC. If you have trouble with the link, please contact IYI Statewide Outreach Manager Debbie Jones at djones@iyi.org.

Youth Worker Cafés are designed to bring together local youth workers to build relationships and inspire collaborations that will benefit children. This Youth Worker Café is made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Geminus Corporation and IYI.
