Register Now for the 12th Annual Hospice Hustle

Hospice-Honors-12th-Hospice-HustleRegistration is open online for Hospice of the Calumet Area’s annual Hospice Hustle cycling event. Participants can choose to ride a 25, 62, or 100 mile course through rural southern Lake County Indiana. Registration is $35 in advance and $40 day of event. All proceeds help provide care for hospice patients.

The 12th Annual Hospice Hustle will take place on Sunday, September 18th, 2016. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the ride start time is 8:00 a.m., beginning at the Lake County Fairgrounds. No late riders.

At registration, cyclists are provided donuts and coffee from Munster Donut and Starbucks of Crown Point with volunteers preparing a pancake breakfast. Following the ride, cyclists can also enjoy live music provided by the local band, the unProfessionals, as well as chili prepared by Miller Bakery Café. Cold beer from Crown Brewing will also be available for purchase.

The Hospice Hustle is a community effort; two individuals who know this more than anyone are the event Co-chairs Bill Hasse and Dr. Gus Galante. Bill’s company, Hasse Construction, and Dr. Galante’s practice are extensively involved in bettering the community, but both go the extra mile for Hospice of the Calumet Area, having had their lives touched by its care. Since 2005, with the help of fellow cyclists and generous supporters they have helped to raise more than $300,000 to ensure that Hospice of the Calumet Area’s services remain available to Northwest Indiana and neighboring Illinois communities.

This year, they are asking other community members and businesses to do the same for Hospice of the Calumet Area through sponsorships. Major sponsors to date are Community Healthcare Systems, TREK Bicycle Store, SVT, LLC (Strack & Van Til), First Merchants Bank, Hasse Construction Co. Inc., Theodoros & Rooth, P.C., N. A. Logan, Inc., Mark F. Kevin, M.D., Meijer and Gustavo E. Galante, M.D. A variety of tiers are available, so no matter the scale of the business, any community business, organization or individual can make a difference.
