Redwood Landscape creates ideal outdoor common area for Crown Point residents

Redwood Landscape is making Walkerton Park, one of Crown Point’s newest subdivisions, the place to be for outdoor parties and get-togethers with a newly designed common area for all its residents to use.

The area, totaling about 140 feet by 80 feet, will feature many different amenities perfect for any outdoor occasion. A few paver patios are in the process of being added, one 14 feet by 14 feet with a 12-foot by 12-foot pergola, and another that’s 14 feet by 16 feet, also with a pergola, and will additionally include a table and chairs area. A separate 15-foot by 30-foot pergola is also going to be added that will contain a bigger patio area as well as a fire pit and a grill and serving area.

Walkways will connect everything together, and it will all be topped off with both accent and bistro lighting to give the design its finishing touch.

“It’s going to be a cool little area for everybody to use,” said Redwood Head of Hardscape/Landscape Design/Sales Kevin Kogut.

To bring this project to life, Kogut worked with Olthof Homes Project Manager Jeff Yasko, the company responsible for building the houses throughout Walkerton. Yasko and Kogut have worked together on projects prior to this, and Yasko appreciates how accommodating Redwood has been to make sure all the necessities are taken care of in every project. The two plan to work on similar projects together in the future as well.

“I met with Olthof to see what they wanted, worked out the design, got the approval, and then helped to get pricing and everybody lined up for him. That's what they liked about us, and that's what they wanted us - because we were a one-stop shop, we could do everything for them,” Kogut said.

While the project is not yet finished, it’s expected to wrap up soon. Only a few more installments are needed from various contractors, such as electricians, carpenters, and others before the setup sees its completion. Altogether, the subdivision is just around three weeks away from its new outdoor area. So far, it’s been nothing but smooth sailing for Kogut and his team.

“I actually just asked Jeff not too long ago, “What can we do to make any of this easier and/or they get better for you?’ He said actually everything's going really smoothly and that they're happy with everything we’ve done so far,” Kogut said. “He and Olthof are just great to work with. They're very open-minded and give us a leeway to offer suggestions that will make things nice, and we appreciate that on our end as well.”

Redwood Landscape is additionally looking for more help with landscape projects such as the one in Walkerton Park and is currently accepting applications.

“We're always looking for young, energetic people that have a vision for landscaping work to give us a call,” Kogut said.
