“Purdue Federal Credit Union highly values the growth of connections within the community,” Matt Scheuer, vice president of business development for Northwest Indiana at Purdue Federal, said. “We were blessed to have so many individuals come out to spend the evening with us to keep forging those connections. I would like to thank the business community of Crown Point for all of their support. Hopefully, our guests will continue to encourage others to think of us when it comes to their financial needs. We’d love to have the opportunity to earn the community’s business. Spending time with everyone here tonight has been an absolute pleasure.”

Representatives from Hasse Construction, South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, Lakeshore Public Media, and Meals on Wheels Northwest Indiana were present. The attendees enjoyed drinks from the open bar along with some light finger foods.

Shawn Pettit, town councilman for Merrillville's sixth ward and a Crossroads Chamber board member alongside Scheuer, appreciates the opportunity to celebrate and engage with other community leaders at the Holiday Event

“Crossroads is a very strong chamber of commerce, and Purdue Federal Credit Union has been an outstanding member,” Pettit said. “Businesses are the backbone of any community, so we’re always happy to support them however we can. This event is a great opportunity to network with people from throughout the community and talk with them about projects that are in the works for next year. It’s also great to celebrate the holidays with our friends. It’s been great seeing everyone having a good time as they enjoy the good food and drinks.”

During his remarks, Scheuer highlighted several accomplishments that Purdue Federal has made over the past year. These include winning Crossroads Chamber’s Corporate Responsibility Award and instructing more than 2,100 local students in financial literacy.

Mitch Gaffigan, vice president of commercial lending at Purdue Federal, finds this event to be a fitting close to 2024.

“We wanted to thank these people who are kind enough to work with us throughout the year,” Gaffigan said. “We appreciate the chance to be involved with our constituents here in Northwest Indiana, and this event is an expression of how thankful we are for their business and support. I hope everyone leaves tonight’s event with a warm feeling after filling their bellies a little bit and enjoying some beverages. Hopefully, they’ll leave with good thoughts about Purdue Federal Credit Union as well.”

Sean Lavelle, sales manager at Purdue Federal’s Crown Point location, considers the Holiday Event to be one of the year’s highlights.

“I love this event,” Lavelle said. “It lets us show our appreciation for our select employee groups and do a little networking, which really helps the other businesses out. We love our select employee group members and always enjoy seeing them, whether it’s during business hours at one of our locations or at an event like this one. This is a free event, so there are no strings attached. It’s all about giving back and extending to everyone here tonight the same warm welcome that members receive when they walk into a Purdue Federal Credit Union location.”
