Purdue Calumet’s 2013 Squad Named a NSCAA All-Academic Squad

The Purdue University Calumet women's soccer team earned another academic honor Monday, as the 2013 squad was awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award, in results released by the national organization.

To earn the award -- which is presented one season behind -- teams must have an average grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 861 teams -- 581 of them women's squads -- received the honor.

The 2013 Peregrines' women's soccer team recorded a team G.P.A of 3.15 to earn the award under the direction of head coach Leslie Ferguson.

This season it was senior Rachel Shmagranoff (Munster, Ind./Munster), who was a junior on the 2013 team, who earned Purdue Calumet's first-ever Capital One Academic All-American honor for her performance both in the classroom and on the field.

The NSCAA College Team Academic Award winners for 2014 will be announced at this time next year.
