Purdue Calumet Falls to Holy Cross, 1-0

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Women’s Soccer team fell to Holy Cross this afternoon in a 1-0 league match. The Peregrines drop to 7-10 (3-7 CCAC) while the Saints improved to 4-13 (2-8 CCAC) with the win.

After a scoreless first half, Holy Cross broke the 0-0 tie in the 53rd minute, when a cross from Sally Allgeier connected with Haleigh VanderVinne to give the Saints the loan goal of the game.

The Peregrines out-shot the Saints 18-7 in the match but came up short finding the back of the net. Rachel Shmagranoff (Munster, Ind./Munster) led all players in the game with four shots while Michelle Wartman (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) finished with two shots, both of them being on goal.

Saturday’s match also served as senior day, as the Peregrines honored their three seniors, Rachel Shmagranoff (Munster, Ind./Munster) , Caytin Lewin (Plainfield, Ill./Benet Academy/Joliet) and Isabella Parrilli (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Dupage).

The Peregrines will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 4, as they finish up conference play with Judson at 4:30 pm at Munster High School.
