Purdue Calumet Drops Pair to Roosevelt and Adrian Friday

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet men’s tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Roosevelt University and Adrian College Friday at MatchPoint Tennis & Fitness Club.

The Peregrines fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Against Roosevelt, sophomore Patrick Mudd (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) put up a battle in his No. 2 singles match, falling in a tough three-set marathon, 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, 10-4. Freshman Will Harber (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) also showed grit in his two-set loss to Roosevelt’s Serhiy Kiyasov, falling by a scores of 6-3 and 7-5.

James Newman also showed improvement for the Peregrines, falling in his No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Competing against Adrian, Alberto Monaco (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Anchieta) nearly pulled off the second set win in a 6-1, 7-5 loss to the Bulldogs’ No. 1 singles player Brandon Brom.

Purdue Calumet returns to action Saturday, March 28, when the Peregrines travel to Judson University for a league match in Elgin, Ill.
