Porter Regional Hospital is now Northwest Health – unifying three hospitals under one name

Porter Regional Hospital is now Northwest Health – Porter, after CEO Sean Dardeau unveiled a new brand and Healthcare System over a year in the making.

The rebrand unifies the Porter Regional, La Porte, and Starke hospitals all under one name, Northwest Health. Additionally, the La Porte Physician Network and Porter Physician Group are now combined into Northwest Medical Group.

Northwest Health team members and community leaders gathered at the hospital entrance to watch Dardeau reveal the new name and logo. “This is really good for us, and everyone on staff is incredibly excited about this,” Dardeau said. “Banding together as a single branded system will help us recruit more physicians and bring new services to the area. We’re looking forward to showing our combined strength.”

The simplest benefit to the new rebrand is limiting patient confusion. Under one name, patients will be able to know that they are receiving the same quality of care they came to expect from Porter Regional Hospital at any Northwest Health location.  “This makes it easier for the community to recognize us as a common brand, working together for the health and wellness of Northwest Indiana,” Dardeau said. “It lends a new air of familiarity to all three hospitals.”

The new brand is also a chance to share more clinical best practices, expand services, and grow their team beyond their existing 3,400 employees.

“It brings a regional approach,” he said. “It helps in recruiting and helps bring opportunities in contracting. We can combine our clinical expertise and resources and enhance our transfer capabilities between the hospitals.”

Dardeau noted that in the last year, Northwest Health cared for over 17,000 inpatients, delivered 2,000 infants, handled 85,000 emergency room visits, and managed 430,000 outpatient visits.  “This rebrand represents the comprehensiveness of our system,” he said. “We have a broad, vast variety of healthcare and therapy services for the community. It helps us show that we are united under a common purpose, to serve the individuals of Northwest Indiana across a five county area. We look forward to getting patients to where they need to be, and to sharing this brand with the residents of Northwest Indiana.”

The ceremony closed as the Northwest Health team raised a new flag with their logo, which will fly in front of the hospital and serve as a symbol of their commitment to the health of the Northwest Indiana community. To learn more about Northwest Health, visit www.nwhealthin.com.
