Pond Club Plans Waterscape Weekend Garden & Pond Expo

Illiana-Garden-Pond-SocietyGardens, ponds, streams, waterfalls, flowers, fish and educational programs are all part of the Illiana Garden Pond Society’s Eleventh Annual Waterscape Weekend Garden & Pond Expo, April 28th and April 29th at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana. Beautiful pond, garden and patio exhibits and displays are designed to inspire and educate outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.

Waterscape Weekend is for everyone who enjoys the sights, sounds and pleasures of outdoor life,” said Illiana Garden Pond Society President Sara Legler. “The moving water, beautiful pond fish, gorgeous plants, and exotic lighting help people relax and can even reduce the stress associated with everyday life.”

Local Landscapers, Garden Centers, Outdoor Lighting Experts and Designers will not only showcase their work, they will offer how to clinics and seminars to help you turn your backyard into Paradise. Learn about organic gardening and heirloom plants so that you can grow healthy vegetables in your own backyard. Hear about the new plants for 2012 that are even more hardy and easier to grow.

In addition to the displays, Waterscape Weekend features vendors selling those hard to find Japanese Koi, pond supplies, garden and bedding plants, vegetables, trees and shrubs, outdoor lighting, hot tubs, handmade garden art and outdoor décor.

Also in attendance are area Garden Clubs and Rescue Groups promoting their upcoming garden walks and fund raising events.

Legler explains, “The Illiana Garden Pond Society is all about education. We want everyone to know how ponds, water gardens and pond fish can offer you stress relief and joy. They can give you a purpose for your life and offer you a sanctuary in your own backyard.”

Show hours are 9am to 5pm, April 28th and April 29th at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St., Crown Point, IN. Admission is $5, with children under 15 and parking Free.

Formed in 1996, the Illiana Garden Pond Society is a not-for-profit garden club that is dedicated to pond and water garden education. Proceeds from the Expo are used towards Master Gardener Scholarship Programs and to install educational ponds at area Schools, Nursing Homes and Hospitals.
