PNW celebrates Homecoming at Westville Campus with a yard party and fireworks

As part of its Homecoming activities, Purdue University Northwest (PNW) hosted a yard party and an exciting fireworks show on Friday, April 9 at its Westville Campus.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni enjoyed delicious tacos at the outdoor portion of the yard party. Due to a chance of rain, entertainment consisting of a DJ, and games such as bean bag toss, two-person basketball throw, inflatable horse races, spike ball, ladder golf and a giant Jenga game were available for everyone to enjoy inside the H.D. Kesling Gymnasium located in DSAC. Many participants received a free T-shirt.

“Activities like the bean bag game and free food caught my interest,” said Meghan Rogers, a PNW student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. “These events are a great way to have a fun night and celebrate safely with the campus community.”

The surrounding community was invited to enjoy a “Pride in the Sky” fireworks display sponsored by the Purdue Federal Credit Union, which took place at 8 p.m. Another fireworks display at the PNW Hammond Campus will close out Homecoming month at 8 p.m. on April 30.

“Homecoming has become one of the biggest celebrations of the year at PNW,” said Ashley Gerodimos, executive director of the PNW Alumni Community and University Strategic Events. “It is unique in that activities are held throughout the month at both the Westville and Hammond campuses.”
