The next phase of the bike trail extension which will connect the Crown Point bike trails is underway. The trail will run east from the Erie-Lackawanna trail along Summit St. and connect to the current Veterans Memorial Trail at Indiana Avenue and North St. near the Sportsplex.
Groundbreaking for this extension will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the intersection of Grant St. And Monitor St.
“The city was awarded a grant for this extension through the State of Indiana’s Next Level Trails program” stated Mayor Peter Land, “We are looking forward to completing this part of the trail.” Gariup Construction was awarded the bid for the second phase of this expansion. Trail will be opened this fall.
