Online Networking Brought to Life at December 2013 NWI Tweetup

The December 2013 NWITweetup was held at Zao Island in Valparaiso. The Tweetup was open to anyone, and a variety of business people attended from real estate agents, to graphic designers to software programmers .

Guests were invited to bring a toy to be donated to Toys for Tots as part of Levin Tire Service Centers’ holiday toy drive. Attendees who donated were entered into a raffle for Portage IMAX tickets, gift cards to Third Coast Spice Cafe, Catch 22 Bar & Grill, and oil changes at Levin Tire. Delicious pizza was provided by Coladas and everyone happily munched and socialized.

Nat Finn, co-founder of the NWITweetup, said Tweetups started out in 2008 when Twitter became a prominent social networking tool in the area of Northwest Indiana.

His NWI Team member, Chris Bake said, “The goal of tonight is to network with others. It is always good to meet local people.”

“It’s amazing how many great connections you can make,” said Dave Woodson, co-founder of the NWITweetup, “At this event, you can’t hide behind a keyboard.”

At the event, it was announced that the NWITeetup leadership was passed from Finn and Woodson to Ideas in Motion Media, who look to grow the NWITweetups as well as Finn and Woodson had in the past.

“I extend thanks to Finn and Woodson for building the NWITweetup events, and Zao Island for providing a great place and pizza for the event. In the future, Ideas in Motion Media would like to incorporate more non-profit organizations and make this organization and event better than ever,” said Jenny Craig.

At the end of the announcements over the change in leadership, Zao Island General Manager Ryan Wright suggested a game of laser tag, which many attendees were happily up for.

The arcade was also open for use and many enjoyed playing the games that stemmed from their youth.

At the end of the night, everyone left satisfied from this evening of fun, food, and friends.
