One CHS Student Named Merit Semifinalist in the 2019 NMSC Competition

One-CHS-Student-Named-Merit-Semifinalist-in-the-2019-NMSC-CompetitionOne Chesterton High School senior is among the nation’s 16,000 Semifinalists announced in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) competition. This student has completed the first step in the competition for some 7,500 Merit Scholarships, worth more than $31 million, to be offered next spring.

Based on selection index scores on the 2017 PSAT/NMSQT, the CHS student cited in the 64th annual competition is Branden Wong.

Wong is the son of Kwan and Yu Wong of Chesterton. He is active on the varsity tennis, Science Olympiad, Speech and Debate and is a member of National Honor Society (NHS). His college choice and area of study are are undecided at this time.
