One Book One Community Book Events at WPL

westchester-photo-montageWestchester Public Library is participating in One Book, One Community this year with the book The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro. Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton, and Hageman Library, 100 Francis Street, Porter, each have multiple copies of the book. Patrons are encouraged to check out, read, and talk about The Art Forger.

Patrons are invited to view the 1968 version of The Thomas Crown Affair on Friday, May 16 at 6 pm. Come to the Library Service Center, 100 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway star in this version of the story where a bank executive turned art thief matches wits with an insurance investigator who will do anything to get her man.

On Thursday, May 22, from 6:30-8:30, the public is invited to come to the Bertha Wood meeting room at Thomas Library for the panel discussion. Individual panelists will discuss issues raised in the book (such as forgery and ethical issues) from their professional fields of expertise and research they have done on the subjects. There will be a question and answer time at the end.

Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo star in the 1999 remake of the Thomas Crown Affair that will be shown at the Library Service Center on Friday, May 30 at 6 pm. Don’t miss the newer version of the story of the playboy art thief and the detective that is on his trail.
