St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point hosted the CYO Spelling Bee on Wednesday, April 27th 2016.This is St. Mary's fourth year hosting this event. This is the 44th year CYO will held a Spelling Bee competition.
Participants from 14 local Catholic schools in Northwest Indiana competed in a fun and friendly spelling competition. The divisions include: 3rd/4th grade combined, 5th/6th grade combined, and 7th/8th grade combined. All finalists received a participation medal and the top winners received a trophy.
The winner from the 3rd/4th grade division was Josie Guzzo from St. John the Evangelist. The winner from the 5th/6th grade division was Zachary Plebanski from St. Casimir. The winner from the 7th/8th grade division was Oluseyi Ogundipe from St. Paul.
