Officer James Ghrist Named Indiana D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year

officer-ghristOfficer James Ghrist was name D.A.R.E. officer of the Year for the State of Indiana. Eads Elementary School held a surprise party in his honor. The students decorated police badges with words that describe Officer Ghrist. Officer Ghrist was named the official super hero of Eads Elementary.

The students brought in McDonalds gift cards totaling $500. Ronald McDonald joined the party and presented Officer Ghrist with his gift. The students then sang songs to Officer Ghrist. The surprise party finished up with an all-school doughnut party in his honor.

Officer Ghrist was surprised and humbled by the students appreciation of him. He is an outstanding role model for the children in Munster. He teaches students to make good decision, say no to drugs and to always be a friend not a bully.

The town of Munster is fortunate to have a dedicated community police officer serving Eads Elementary, Elliott Elementary, Frank Hammond Elementary, St. Thomas More School and St. Paul’s School.
