Recently, Jessica Wotherspoon joined the team at Oak Partners in Crown Point as their new Communication Coordinator. A native of Cedar Lake, Wotherspoon brings with her a bachelors degree from Purdue University Northwest and a history of working in customer services that makes her uniquely suited to her new position working with visitors and clients of Oak Partners.
In her first couple of months at Oak Partners, Wotherspoon has been enjoying her time working in client services, event coordination and on the administrative side of the firm. She’s also found the atmosphere at Oak Partners very welcoming.
“The atmosphere is very family-oriented,” Wotherspoon said. “There was really more of a close-knit, work family sense about Oak Partners. That was the feeling I got and what ultimately drove me to want to pursue the position.”
Wotherspoon graduated with a degree in fitness management and her work post-graduation entailed working in management at clubs and gyms locally. The overall feel of those businesses was that of a smaller, more intimate operation where she was able to get to know her clientele, and that’s something that Wotherspoon really enjoyed.
“I didn’t really want to work for a larger corporation,” she continued. “Being a fitness major and managing fitness clubs in the area, they were all smaller, more family-oriented operations. I never wanted to go outside of those smaller clubs and that really informed some of my thinking in joining Oak Partners. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and you really get to know people in a setting like this.”
Wotherspoon’s unique appreciation for the importance of developing relationships and really getting to know her clientele is translating at Oak Partners, as well as event planning which is something she will be helping out with at the firm.
“That was one of the biggest things that I always enjoyed,” said Wotherspoon when speaking about helping to plan events. “I’ve only got to be apart of one event so far but Oak Partners hosts so many great event that I’m looking forward being involved with. Crystal (Dehaven) does all of the planning of events here but it’s been great to help her out when and where I can!”
Wotherspoon is the first person that clients meet when they walk into Oak Partners and her background in working to make sure that the customer enjoys their experience translates nicely to clients visiting the Crown Point and Valparaiso-based wealth management firm.
“Customer service is the number one most important aspect of a company,” Wotherspoon reflected. “It can really make or break you and that was always something I took pride in, making a customer feel welcomed and meeting their expectations.”
